I have masticated the ambrosial comestibles delightfully served at the one of a kind CLH many, many times.
And I'm looking forward to my next visit in early October!

Definitely one of the strangest things that I have seen or read about, but tea is a wonderfully versatile ingredient. Glad this recipe worked so well!

I've been eating at the Creole Lunch House for over 25 years, and I can tell you there is no better host than Miss Merlene. The stuffed bread is always absolutely to-die-for, but the food there is always unbelievably good no matter what they're serving, from chicken fricasse to fried shrimp or catfish to their roast, rice and gravy.

I always make it a point to bring out-of-town guests to the Creole Lunch House, and without exception, they end up buying boxes of frozen stuffed breads to take home. I introduced one of my best friends to Creole Lunch House in 1989, and to this day, he calls up Miss Merlene and has her ship stuffed bread to his office in Tampa, FL to serve to his guests. You won't walk away from Creole Lunch House disappointed nor with an empty stomach!

My favorite cafe for creole food in ths area. Coincidentally, I usually order the smothered chicken, rice and gravy, and greens. Get there early to avoid a line out the door....
it's spicy!
